Home, workspace, and navigation#

DevDesk starts with the next useful action instead of giving every utility equal visual weight.

Home#

  • New workspace opens the profile, name, file-preview, and parent-folder flow.
  • Open folder opens an existing folder once or adds project.devdesk explicitly.
  • Continue working reopens recent workspace context.
  • Search finds workspaces and tools.
  • All tools keeps every specialist utility available without crowding the primary flow.

Workspace navigation#

The workspace has one stable navigation model:

  • Overview: open work, recent items, and workspace summary.
  • Inbox / Today: capture and attention queries over the same Markdown items.
  • Tasks / Notes: ordinary work without requiring raw frontmatter.
  • Files: visible project files plus the advanced explorer.
  • Views: saved List/Board/Calendar/Timeline/Outline/Graph projections.
  • Suggested changes: indexing and managed-automation history.
  • Developer tools: contextual API, Markdown, JSON, OpenAPI, Diff, README, OKF, Search, and scoped Git entry points.
  • Help / Settings: manuals, migration terms, portability, automation, privacy, and application settings.

Selecting an item keeps its workspace-relative path attached when a compatible tool opens. Back returns to the same workspace context.

Files and the advanced explorer#

Files → Open explorer opens the earlier Workspace Hub. Use it to browse nested folders, follow breadcrumbs, create a file/folder, or select an exact project file for a specialist tool. A file-specific tool never silently falls back to unrelated global data.

Continue working#

  • Pinned uses your saved favourites.
  • Recently used uses local activity history.
  • All tools opens the categorized tool library.
  • Opening a recent workspace returns to its unified shell.

Screen sizes#

  • Android phone: drawer navigation, stacked content, and touch-sized sheets.
  • Tablet, landscape, split-screen, or freeform: more cards and optional side panels appear when space allows.
  • Windows: persistent navigation and one-, two-, or three-pane project layouts.

Manual navigation#

Use the in-app User manual for offline help. On this website, press / to search, use Contents on narrow screens, or use the left navigation and right page outline on wide screens.
